SUPPORTED LIVING

Supported Living

Wabash Center’s Supported Living program offers staff support in safe and affordable housing for the individuals we serve. Our goal is to help individuals live their best and most independent life possible. Our staff will provide support as needed based on each individual’s needs. We empower each individual to do what they can on their own and assist them in acquiring skills to become more independent.

We have multiple locations both Greater Lafayette and Northwest Indiana. Individuals can live on their own or with up to three roommates. Every home is staffed based on the level of support needed by the individual. We serve individuals with a diverse range of needs. Some homes have staff onsite 24 hours a day. Other homes need minimal support.

Meet James!

James is a leader among his peers, and they describe him as a loyal friend who is always willing to lend a hand. Through his engagement with our teams in the Supported Living and Employment Services programs at Wabash Center during the last 10 years, James has grown as a person and in the workplace. He excels in social environments, is active in Tippecanoe County’s Special Olympics, and has a goal of becoming a firefighter—he is always looking for opportunities to learn and develop with this goal in mind. Recently, James earned his CPR certification with the American Heart Association, and also completed their AED and First Aid courses for children and adults. James is proud of his new knowledge! He looks forward to the future and hopes to grow in his abilities so he can serve his community and those around him.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) offer a wide range of support, such as:

  • help with medication management

  • aid with managing finances

  • social outings with other individuals

Meet Josh!

After four years with Wabash Center, Josh is leading within our Supported Living Services. Josh is a supervisor for our Direct Support Professionals and supports them in serving individuals in their home environment. He encourages independence and offers choices based on the unique needs of our individuals. Josh believes the most rewarding aspect of his job is witnessing people succeed in their daily routines and personal goals. Working closely with the individuals we serve has taught him the true value of patience and persistence. Josh is known for his humor and reminds others that life is short and we must all laugh while we can. He is a trusted and inspiring voice in the organization.
“The roles I have taken on at Wabash Center have helped me understand the importance of the small wins in life and all accomplishments are ones to be proud of.”

Wabash Center’s goal is to offer the best possible quality of life for the individuals we serve. We help individuals pursue dreams of how they want to live their lives. We have seen individuals reach many personal goals. This includes building new relationships, getting a pet, securing a new job, or traveling to a dream vacation spot.

Supported Living services are offered at our Greater Lafayette and Northwest Indiana locations.
