Jenna is the Outreach and Engagement Specialist at Wabash, a Lafayette-based industrial manufacturing company. Wabash Center and Wabash have a positive, long-standing relationship that started with our Enterprise Services program. Jenna is responsible for finding opportunities for Wabash employees to give back and support the community together. She started working with Wabash Center at the recommendation of Melissa Strong, another Wabash employee and chair of Wabash Center’s board of directors. For years, Jenna has brought Wabash employees to volunteer at our Holiday Dinner and Grant’s House Celebration. Her first year, she gathered employees from different departments across Wabash to volunteer for our annual Grant’s House Celebration. Jenna was unsure if anyone even knew each other’s names, and she was anxious about how the experience might feel for everyone. To her delight, the positive and welcoming atmosphere from Wabash Center brought the group together for a very memorable evening. “There is something special that happens when you volunteer as a team at a place as special as Wabash Center. David is one of the first individuals that Wabash Center had the privilege to serve and has been with us for 55 years. He has witnessed decades of growth at Wabash Center – not only for himself, but the organization too! David is known for his gentle smile and kind heart. He fills his day with meaningful activities alongside his peers in Wabash Center’s Adult Day Services program. The program recently added a smart room sponsored by Duke Energy which offers our adults adaptive ways to communicate and adds variety to daily activities. David loves reading physical books, but he enjoys the NY2 program and iPads in the smart room where he can choose from numerous publications. He is advocating for how he wants to spend his time, and he loves the changes! Wabash Center’s Family Supports team has served Mary for more than 14 years. Mary adopted a service dog, and she recently brought him home. It is her dream to be able to take care of a pet of her own. Mary and Jupiter were meant to be -- they even share the same birthday! Jupiter will add joy to Mary’s day-to-day, and he will also support improving her quality of life. Jupiter has been trained to support Mary medically and emotionally. Mary welcomed him home in April.
