The Arc of Indiana - Blueprint for ChangeBlueprint for Change

The Blueprint for Change is a transformational plan designed to empower people to shape their own future, nurture and create natural systems of support, and strengthen the foundation of programs and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Blueprint for Change - We welcome you to join us in this important initiative as we work together.

March is Disability Awareness Month

PSAMarch is Disability Awareness Month, a program of the Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities sponsors to increase awareness and promote independence, integration and inclusion of all people with disabilities. And that is some 19 percent of Indiana's population.

The 2012 theme is "Celebrating Community," something Wabash Center's program exemplify.

Some ways you might get involvedn and ignite community spirit is:

  • Smile, listen and greet people
  • Speak directly to the person with a disability
  • Invite friends with disabilities to lunch or an outing, wherever you invite other friends.
  • Get involved!

Help us Spread the Word to End the Word™. We invite you to be a fan of respect and join us in an on-going campaign to stop the use of the word 'retard(ed)' or as we call it, the "R-word." Over 140,000 people have pledged their support since the campaign launched in 2009, and we hope you can join us by making your pledge to end the use of the R-word.

Visit www.r-word.org and take the pledge. Together we can create communities of acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.

Annual Celebration of Achievement

Thursday, September 13, 2012

The Annual Celebration of Achievement is held at the Tippecanoe Fairgrounds West Pavilion. This is our favorite night of the year! It  is when we celebrate the achievements of those we serve who have achieved their goals the past year. We also honor our business associates and community groups. There are plenty of smiles to go around! The Awards ceremony begins at 6 pm. Doors open at 4:30 pm with a picnic style buffet. 2011's dinner was generously donated by the Board of Directors and Staff of Wabash Center.

For more information or to volunteer at the Annual Celebration, contact Rhonda Jones at rjones@wabashcenter.com or (765) 423-5531 x353.

Walk and Roll - Saturday, September 22, 2012

We had so much fun, we are doing it again! On Saturday, September 22, 2012, we will WALK, we will ROLL, we may even ROCK, and we will raise some money, too! Your contributions help us provide valuable services for people of all ages living with challenges like Autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental and physical disabilities.

The Walk and Roll is a family-friendly 5K run/walk with a short course accessible track for rollers and strollers. The name Walk and Roll was selected because it embodies a sense of inclusiveness and invokes a sense of empowerment which Wabash Center embraces in all that it does.

Grab your sneakers or wheels and let 'em roll!

Please click here for 2011 Walk and Roll registration and contribution form.

October is National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month

A World In Which People With Disabilities Have Unlimited Employment Opportunities

This is a time to honor and recogize the achievements and contributions of disabled Americans to our workforce. Every day, the people of Wabash Center demonstrate that those with disabilities also have countless abilities. What they bring to the workplace is phenomenal—skill, a passion to perform well on the job, reliability and can-do attitudes that drive them to be excellent employees. Thank you for celebrating with us!
