Tippecanoe Adult Guardianship Services

Bill helping Tom

"Some of the most vulnerable members of our population are those who do not have someone to represent their best interests."
– State Representative Dennis Avery

Tippecanoe Adult Guardianship Services (TAGS) provides guardianship and advocacy for incapacitated adults by ensuring they receive the appropriate healthcare, social services, and legal representation they need. The adults served by TAGS are incapable of representing their own "best interests" and are without family involvement to help them in decision making.

TAGS recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to serve as guardians and advocates for incapacitated adults. The volunteers are appointed as guardians by the Tippecanoe Circuit Court. The guardian's role is to assist the Court by investigating and assessing the incapacitated person's life situation, facilitating medical and social services needed by the individual, and planning for the appropriate post-release placement and services for the person.
