About the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax credit program that offers incentive to employers for hiring individuals who have had difficulty in securing employment. Those individuals who have barriers to employment are listed in the WOTC information under Target Groups. Individuals who are in that target group are Veterans, Ticket to Work Participants, Food Stamp Recipients, Vocational Rehabilitation Service Recipients, Supplemental Security Income Recipients, ex-felons, etc).

A 25% credit could be awarded for workers who work at least 120 hours and a 40% credit for workers who work at least 400 hours for a maximum credit of $2,400 per individual, per year.
